Hello my loves and welcome back to my blog, or if your new then thanks for joining! Today I'm talking about the things that they don't tell you about pregnancy! We all know the usual side effects with pregnancy. But if you are new to this pregnant life then there are quite a few things that may come as a shock to you. When you speak to friends or your midwife with these new found concerns its all " yeah that's normal!"....sorry what??? was I supposed to know this? Be pre-warned a few things may be a bit TMI, these little surprises aren't exactly nice ones, you have been warned.
My pregnancy so far has been pretty similar to my first with Georgia. I had nausea all day and night till about 12 weeks and the second trimester has been alot better. Along with a few of the other things that I was unaware about pregnancy have also returned. I completely forgot about them so was a little surprised when they re-appeared.
First the nose bleeds!!! The damn nose bleeds. Now in the grand scheme of things this isn't the worst. I am fully aware but it is still annoying. I wake up every morning and my nose is completely blocked. Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night and I can't get back to sleep as I cant breathe through my nose. I know a little TMI but its just full of dried blood. Disgusting, yes I know. I am constantly blowing my nose with this annoyance. But hey to be honest I would take this over sickness any day. but I just didn't expect it to be something that would occur.
Next the Acne!! the face acne, the chest acne or the back-ne. You may have one, you may have them all. But in my first pregnancy I was not prepared for this and it mainly was on my chest. This time around its more face, then randomly appears on my back or chest. I know its a small price to pay but when your not feeling your best and your tired and your covered in spots all over your face it does make you feel worse. I'm not talking little small breakouts, I'm talking like pussy sore spots. I have tried not to wear makeup at all unless I really have to. Being a makeup artist its not really ideal when someone comes to get their makeup done. But I have been using face masks and treatments constantly and I think its finally gone!!
This of course is all down to those pesky hormones! They are the blame for most things in pregnancy so prepare yourself for that. My skin in general hasn't been great. For someone that does drink plenty of water, my skin has been so dry and dehydrated!!! I have been caking on the hydrating treatments and the moisturiser. Again avoiding makeup as I feel its making it worse. Certain dry patches just wont go away. The rest of the skin on my face feels amazing but theres certain parts that just wont quit! My hands are also the worst for dryness.
One thing I have experienced with this pregnancy that I didn't with my other pregnancy was headaches. First thing in the morning, bang, I would wake with the sorest head! but not at the front were I would usually get them right on the top (where a babys soft spot would be) Im pretty unsure why this is. My midwife told me just keep an eye on it and to drink more water, which I do anyway but they have seemed to subside a bit. But it did last about 4 weeks.
Crazy dreams - I know this sounds weird but I have had the most weird, random, actually wake up puzzled dreams. I will not bore you with specifics but I have had the strangest dreams since becoming pregnant and they seem so real and are so memorable. Most mornings I wake up in disbelief half laughing to myself. Sometimes I wake up like was that real?? "Alan did ...... really happen?".
**Disclaimer **
I totally understand that these aren't ground breaking side effects and to be honest they are a very small price to pay for being pregnant and I'm not complaining just sharing the joys of pregnancy good and bad lol It is things we look back and laugh at. ♥
Did you have any other crazy side effects of pregnancy??
G x x
Varicose veins! Everywhere, even in the intimate places, painful and achy! My stomach and breasts were a roadmap of veins (TMI) however no one tells you about these!!! Wishing you well in the rest of your pregnancy
ReplyDeleteAw I have heard of this happening to women. That's a shame! My veins are so much more visible everywhere, strange isn't it. No they definitely don't do they. Did they fade afterwards or do they stay with you??
ReplyDeleteAw thank you so much :) xxx
