We are out of the first trimester!! woohoo! The sickness has gone. I'm still feeling pretty tried in the afternoon but hey what else is new. Last week marked 14 weeks and we had an appointment with the consultant. Georgia was born by emergency cesarean so we had to meet with her to discuss our options and I have opted to go with a planned cesarean with this baby, I'll discuss this in another blog for anyone who is interested, I know it can sometimes spark debate 👀.
I am now on an aspirin a day due to having pre eclampsia, so reduces the chance of blood clots. Along with iron tablets which I have to build up to three a day as my iron was very low almost border lining being anemic, not ideal. I also need to have an Anti D vaccine as my blood is rhesus negative so that my body doesn't produce antibodies against the babies blood if he/she is not rhesus negative. So that was a fun appointment lol.
My eating is back to normal thank goodness. So I'm trying to eat more healthier now that I can stomach foods I used to eat and incorporate as much iron into my diet. If anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear them!
The biggest change I have noticed is being over emotional! Oh my god! the emotions lol! I cry at absolutely everything and anything. Sometimes I'm on my own and just burst into tears for no reason what so ever lol. I remember being a bit teary with Georgia but this is a full on cry at everything now. I find its mainly happier things rather than sad things. But thats me, I'm gone, lump in the throat and tears are rolling. Cue the strange looks from alan, "are you crying again???".
This is just due to those lovely little hormones which basically are the blame of most symptoms in your pregnancy to be honest. Mood swings are so common. I have noticed that I can get irritated a bit easier but the crying has to be the main emotion lol.
I feel like now we have had the scan and everyone knows we can start to get organised!! Myself and Alan are planners. We love to plan ahead and we love a list. So I need to start making lists of everything we need and what I have to declutter in this house etc. Although we aren't going to find out the sex of the baby, I still cant wait to buy baby clothes and decorate the nursery.
They say the second trimester is the easiest and if I'm honest I remember it being that way with my first pregnancy. Although every trimester comes with its ups and downs and some women experience sickness throughout, I can say I definitely feel a little boost in my energy levels. My bump has just popped out all of a sudden aswell, so a pregnancy pillow is at the top of my list of things to get. Although it is early days in the seconds trimester I hope this lasts!
What were your second trimester symptoms?
Did you experience this being over emotional?
